Flooring/Tile
Types of Floors
Tile is one of the most popular and versatile products that are used for flooring, shower walls, and wall covering. Tile borders are often used around vanities and drop in whirlpools/baths and are made in different colors to look like stone and available in ceramic or porcelain. There are also many different colors in grout that can really change the look in using tile. A medium to darker color tile will help in not showing mildew and soil that accumulate over time.
Vinyl floors have really changed in there looks and the feel. Many vinyl floors look like tile which makes it difficult to tell it is not actual tile. Vinyl can also look like wood or stone and no grouting is used. Vinyl planks can also be used to give the floor a wood look. Some vinyl is available in squares and may be used with grout or without grout.
Natural stone is another product that may also be used on a bathroom floor.
Hardwood floor is NOT recommended for master or main bathrooms. They may sometimes be used in a powder room where no steam or minimal water will affect the floor. Hardwood floors may warp or discolor if water gets on the floor.
Carpet is not used much or recommended in bathrooms. However, a short pile or berber gives a nice warm feel to a bathroom. Caution needs to be used when showering as it is important to not have a lot of water on a carpeted floor.
