Styles

Single Lever with no plate – 1-hole mount - This style of faucet does not have the plate that covers the other holes in a sink that has 2, 3, or 4 holes. It gives a very clean look to the sink whether mounted on the sink or on the kitchen counter. These faucets are often a pull out or pull down spray however there are styles that are just the faucet without the spray.

Finishes

Chrome (Polished) is a finish that has been around the longest and is the least expensive. It is a hard shiny finish

Brushed Nickel is a matte brushed finish that is a combination of silver and gold. This is one of the most popular finishes today and is the most uniform between companies. However Moen is sometimes more golden. Delta calls their brushed nickel finish, stainless which is like their kitchen faucets.

Aged Pewter is a gray black with some gold making it look old. Moen & Delta have this finish.

Brushed Bronze is a matte golden finish and is available in Kohler. Showhouse also has a brushed bronze finish but it has more of a copper look.

Oil Rubbed Bronze is a dark rich brown finish that varies from company to company. Delta/Brizo has a darl brushed look with copper peeking through, Kohler has a black look with copper at specific places, Moen/Showhouse has a lighter brown coppery finish, Grohe is a rich brown finish, Danze has a coppery brown finish.

Stainless is mostly found with kitchen faucets. It is a finish that coordinates with Stainless Steel appliances and sinks. There is some variation between companies but they are all a matte silvery finish. Some have golden hue’s to the finish but generally it is mostly a gray look.

Distressed Nickel is a gray black finish from Danze. It is designed to look old and differs from aged pewter by staying in the gray family.

Polished Nickel is a shiny chrome like finish with an aged look. This gives a faucet a quality look but is not available in many styles.

Other Faucets & Accessories

Secondary Faucets are a smaller version of a sink faucet and are used with a secondary sink in the kitchen. They can also be used as the main kitchen faucet if a smaller faucet is wanted.

Bar Faucets are smaller than secondary faucets and are mostly used in a bar area. They can also be used on a smaller secondary sink in the kitchen.

Fresh Water/Butler/RO Faucets are used when a special filter is under the sink to have better tasting water. Some companies call them a butler faucet and are usually only for cold water. An RO faucet is specifically designed for a Reverse Osmosis system. They have a coating on the inside of the faucet that prevents the water developing a metallic taste.

Garbage Disposals are a great additional to a kitchen. There is builder grade and professional grade disposals. Some qualities to look for would be the warranty, HP of the motor and reversing action that keeps it clean without smell. Check out info at insinkerator.com.

Hot Water/Cold Water Dispensers are also a nice additional. Hot water is instantly available for tea or hot chocolate. They can also have cold water that comes through a filter on the same faucet. Check out info at insinkerator.com

Soap Dispensers have become very popular in the kitchen. They are designed to match the faucets and come in the different finishes that are available. Hand washing or dish washing soap may be easily filled from the top by lifting the dispenser.
