Installation Menu
We install all of the products we sell with experienced technicians and installers. Our goal is to give each customer the highest level of service that is possible. Customer satisfaction is a high priority. We rarely install items that are not purchased from Mervin Zimmerman, Inc or The Bath Barn because of warranty and product issues. In some cases there are exceptions and they are dealt with on a case by case basis.
FREE Estimates are given on most installations.

- Painting/Staining done by a local trusted subcontractor. May choose any paint color and painter will match color.
Tub & Shower/Shower
- Installation would include tearing out/cutting out of old tub or shower.
- Installing the new tub & shower and roughing in the shower valve and is accomplished the first day to be ready for drywall or plaster repair.
- After a several days of wall repair and flooring (flooring is not always changed but is recommended) the finish work is done.
- Finish work includes installing faucet trim and possibly a shower rod or door.
Shower Doors
- Remove existing door and replace with a new framed or frameless door or install a new door on a tub or shower that had a curtain.
- Installation is usually a half day or less
Custom heavy glass doors are often installed with new showers. Installation will take longer than a regular door.
Vanity & Top
- Vanities may be replaced and involves removing the top and faucet. Often when a vanity is replaced the top is also replaced. Installation is the same to replace a vanity, top and faucet as just replacing a vanity.
- Tops can be replaced without replacing vanities. Installation costs vary depending whether it is between two walls or only against one wall or per product.
- Side Splashes are recommended when installing a top.
Medicine Cabinets/Mirrors/Lights
-
Installation of recessed medicine cabinets can be labor intensive. If the cabinet recess is similar without much change it is an easier install. If the opening needs to be built or changed it can be done if there are no pipes or ductwork in the walls. - Wall mount medicine cabinets can be mounted on any wall
- Mirrors can be mounted on any wall
- Lights may be installed where existing lights have been. If you want different lighting then it can be done but will require drywall or plaster repair that adds to the cost of installation.
Bathroom Faucets
- An easy upgrade to your bathroom is to replace your bathroom sink faucet. Installation costs vary depending whether is a wide spread faucet that measure 8” from center of Hot handle to center of cold handle or it has a 4” center spread. Single lever faucets that have a plate (or wide base) are usually mounted over a 4” center hole drilling. Some single lever faucets are mounted as a single hole.
- Installation for shower or tub and shower faucets take more time than other faucets. Access needs to be available from the back of the shower faucet. The valve needs to be replaced from the back if the walls are not changing in the shower.
- Installation of hand showers, body sprays or additional shower heads may be added. Diverters or volume controls must be added to have full function of these items and are best installed in new shower installations
Toilets
-
Installations of toilets are usually standard in most bathrooms. Standard installation dimensions are 12” to center of drain (bolts). Measure from wall to the center of the bolt hole to see if your toilet is a standard installation.
- Some toilets are not a standard installation. This happens when a toilet is 10” or 14” from the wall to the bolt hole. A toilet that fits that installation is available.
Accessories & Grab Bars
- Accessories are often only thought of at the end of a project. If we are remodeling your bathroom accessories such as towel bars, paper holders, towel rings, and robe hooks are installed with no additional installation costs.
- It is best to decide on accessories early enough so that we can install them when we are finishing a project. Otherwise, some additional costs may be incurred.
- Grab bars are important to be in the initial planning of your remodel. To have them in your shower we must install framing that the grab bars would be anchored to.
- Installing grab bars in existing showers is very difficult and not always possible.
- Planning for the future is important if you decide not to install grab bars at the time of installation.
Exhaust Fans
- Installation of exhaust fans may include drywall repair. Sometimes a fan will fit an existing hole with minimal change and does not require drywall repair.
- For new installations the exhaust fan pipe is run through the ceiling to an outside vent.
- Exhaust fans with additional features such as lights, heaters and nightlights are also available but additional electric may have to be installed if the new fan is different from the current fan in your bathroom.
Kitchen Sinks
- Installation of drop in kitchen sinks includes removing the old sink and re-installing the new kitchen sink. It is a good time to replace the sink faucet for no added installation costs.
- If removing a sink from a laminate top a waiver needs to be signed due to the possibility of counter top damage depending on age or type of laminate.
- Sinks that are under-mount are usually installed with a new countertop. The sink is delivered to the top maker and then we hook up sink and faucet when the top is installed in your home.
Kitchen Faucets
- Kitchen faucet installation varies depending on whether it is a pull out spray, faucet with a base or a baseless faucet.
- Soap dispensers will be installed at no extra charge.
Water Conditioning
- Installation of water softeners, acid neutralizers and iron filters are installed before the water heater usually close to the entrance of your water line or well pump system.
- A bypass is always included in the installation
- Testing of your water needs to be done to determine the equipment needed and the setting of the controls on installation
Water Purifiers & Filters
- Installation of water purifiers such as ultra-violet lights, reverse
osmosis and other water filters are placed at the beginning of your water source. - Valves are installed on the incoming and outgoing lines to aid in the replacement of bulbs or filter cartridges.
- Water filters can also be installed in line under the sink for quality tasting water.
- For well systems testing by a certified lab is necessary to determine the types of equipment needed to make your water safe for drinking.
Water Heaters
- Installation of electric or gas waters may take several hours depending on the drainage of the water heater.
- Some gas water heaters take longer than the standard water heater because of different venting materials and requirements. You will need to know how your existing gas water heater is vented for us to give you an accurate quote for the installation.
- Heat pump water heaters require condensate piping, therefore additional installation time and equipment may be required.
