Water Safety

The Effects of Water Damage

The effects brought about by water damage in your home can be devastating, not just because of the damages it can cause to your most valued possessions but also the danger it can cause to your health. Hence, it should not be left sitting in your home for a long period of time.

Materials which are considered porous can be damaged once exposed to water like carpets, pads, flooring which is made out of hardwood, drywall and the wall insulation behind. Other problems like plumbing malfunctions, accidental leaks and other natural causes can also lead to serious water damage. You can surely expect to lose a lot of your personal belongings and possessions with water damage.

Prevent Water Damage

If you want to protect your home and your household members from water damage, you should always take a proactive approach like installing an automatic water shut-off system, such as WaterSafe.

WaterSafe™ offers advanced sensing and monitoring technology delivering the most reliable and easy-to-use water leak prevention and automatic water shut-off valve and system available. The WaterSafe prevents expensive insurance claims and keeps your home safe from dangerous health conditions caused by water damage and the resulting mold. The WaterSafe™  comprehensive warranty covers up to $5,000 towards insurance deductibles and many insurance companies offer significant discounts on both commercial and residential premiums.

How Automatic Shut Off Systems Work

  1. Sensors located under each appliance monitor moisture content below and wirelessly communicate with the controller.
  2. The controller receives input from the sensors and communicates wirelessly with the shut-off valve.
  3. The shut-off valve can be located either outside the home, in the basement or in the crawl space.
  4. If a leak is detected by the sensors the controller shuts off the main water supply to the home to prevent water damage. The controller includes a simple “over-ride” button to turn the water back on after the problem is resolved.
  5. The upgraded system includes an external communication feature that alerts the homeowner when a problem occurs.
